Velvet Pioppino (Cyclocybe aegerita)

The Culture: Drawn from our proprietary liquid culture, this Velvet Pioppino strain has been bred for reliable indoor fruiting and beautiful, dense clusters.

The Profile: A highly esteemed culinary mushroom boasting soft, chocolate-brown caps and thick, cream-colored stems. It offers a spectacular, intense forest flavor with a distinct nuttiness and a firm, snappy texture that pairs flawlessly with heavy cream sauces, risottos, and pork dishes.

History & Benefits: Cultivated by the ancient Romans and Greeks, Pioppino is widely considered one of the oldest cultivated mushrooms in human history. Historically revered for its digestive benefits, it is rich in anti-inflammatory compounds, essential amino acids, and vital minerals like copper and selenium.

Fruiting Conditions: Performs best on supplemented hardwood sawdust (HWFP). Prefers cooler fruiting temperatures between 55°F – 65°F and requires a highly humid environment (90%+) combined with good fresh air exchange to develop properly.
