Black Pearl King (Pleurotus ostreatus hybrid)

The Culture: Drawn from our proprietary liquid culture, this aggressive hybrid strain bridges the gap between fast colonization and dense, meaty fruiting bodies.

The Profile: A phenomenal gourmet choice. It features the thick, edible, and tender stems of a King Oyster, but grows in the prolific, heavily-yielding clusters typical of standard Pearl Oysters. Highly versatile in the kitchen, its peppery, savory flavor makes it an excellent meat substitute for grilling, roasting, or heavy stir-fries.

History & Benefits: Originally cultivated in Japan as a hybrid, it was selectively bred to maximize agricultural yield for farmers while retaining a premium culinary texture for chefs. Nutritionally, it is an excellent source of dietary fiber, protein, and essential amino acids, making it a staple in modern plant-based diets.

Fruiting Conditions: Performs exceptionally well on supplemented hardwood sawdust (HWFP) or masters mix. Prefers cooler fruiting temperatures between 55°F – 65°F with high humidity (85-90%).
