Chestnut (Pholiota adiposa)

The Culture: Drawn from our proprietary liquid culture, this Chestnut strain colonizes reliably and produces beautiful, dense clusters of golden-speckled caps.

The Profile: An absolutely gorgeous culinary mushroom that fruits in large, shaggy, amber-colored bouquets. The flavor is distinctly nutty and earthy, with a crisp, crunchy texture that—unlike many mushrooms—retains its snap even after high-heat cooking. Perfect for roasting, tossing into pasta dishes, or featuring in rich, creamy sauces.

History & Benefits: Native to European beech forests, Chestnut mushrooms have grown rapidly in popularity among modern chefs and gourmet cultivators. Nutritionally, they are an excellent source of essential vitamins, minerals, and dietary fiber, and they contain anti-inflammatory compounds that support overall physical well-being.

Fruiting Conditions: Performs beautifully on supplemented hardwood sawdust (HWFP) or masters mix. Enjoys cooler fruiting temperatures between 55°F – 65°F. Requires high humidity (85-95%) to prevent the delicate caps from drying out during development.
