Chaga (Inonotus obliquus)

The Culture: Drawn from our proprietary liquid culture, this robust Chaga strain is cultivated strictly for functional, medicinal extraction and research.

The Profile: Chaga is not a culinary mushroom. In the wild, it forms a dense, black, charcoal-like mass (a sclerotium) on birch trees. It is incredibly hard and woody. Cultivators grow the mycelial mass, which is then dried, ground, and subjected to hot-water or dual-extraction methods to create earthy, vanilla-noted teas and tinctures.

History & Benefits: Known as the "King of Medicinal Mushrooms," Chaga has been utilized in Siberian and Russian folk medicine for centuries to boost physical stamina and longevity. It boasts one of the highest ORAC (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity) scores of any natural food on the planet, making it a supreme antioxidant. It is densely packed with betulinic acid and melanin, heavily researched for supporting cellular health and modulating the immune system.

Fruiting Conditions: A highly advanced species. Typically cultivated on sterilized birch sawdust or grain to harvest the mycelial biomass, rather than fruiting traditional caps and stems.
