Shiitake 3782 (Lentinula edodes)

The Culture: Drawn from our proprietary liquid culture, the 3782 strain is a robust, commercially proven Shiitake variety bred specifically for fast colonization and heavy, reliable yields.

The Profile: The undisputed king of umami. Shiitake produces beautiful, dark brown to golden caps with a deeply savory, rich, and garlic-adjacent flavor profile. The stems are typically removed, and the caps are prized for stir-fries, robust broths, drying for long-term storage, and high-end culinary dishes.

History & Benefits: Cultivated in Asia for over a thousand years, originally on natural oak logs, Shiitake is a cornerstone of both Asian cuisine and traditional wellness. It is rich in lentinan, a potent polysaccharide studied for its immune-supporting properties. It is also one of the few natural non-animal sources of Vitamin D, cardiovascular-supporting sterols, and essential amino acids.

Fruiting Conditions: Grown on supplemented hardwood (HWFP) or traditional logs. After a long incubation phase where the block must "popcorn" and turn brown, it prefers fruiting temperatures between 60°F – 70°F.
