Grey Oyster (Pleurotus ostreatus)

The Culture: Drawn from our proprietary liquid culture, this robust Grey Oyster strain is bred for massive canopy size and uncompromising commercial yield.

The Profile: A heavy hitter in the culinary world. It produces striking, slate-grey to dark-brown caps with a thick, satisfyingly chewy texture. The flavor is intense, deeply earthy, and complex, making it perfect for rich stews, heavy roasts, and hearty vegetarian main courses.

History & Benefits: A cornerstone of both European and Asian commercial agriculture, this specific phenotype was isolated for its sheer agricultural efficiency and high nutrient conversion rate. It is loaded with essential amino acids, fiber, and compounds that aid in metabolic regulation.

Fruiting Conditions: Highly versatile and aggressive. Thrives on supplemented hardwood (HWFP) or straw. Prefers cooler fruiting temperatures between 55°F – 65°F to maintain the deep, dark pigmentation of the caps (higher temperatures will cause the caps to lighten).
